Mercedes says the transmission oil is "lifetime". Is that true?
"Lifetime" refers to the life of the gearbox — which shortens without oil changes. Changing every 60–80,000 km is the cheapest life insurance for a gearbox that costs thousands.
The gearbox jolts between shifts — does it definitely need repair?
Not necessarily. Aged oil or adaptations are often the cause. We always start with diagnosis and an oil change before suggesting anything bigger.
